Meeting Announcement 8/15/19 6pm

Bay Area Babywearing, Inc. Will be holding its annual membership and Board of Directors meeting on August 15, 2019 at 6pm. The meeting will take place on the Bay Area Babywearing Facebook Page LIVE. Here is the link to the group: https://www.facebook.com/BWIBayArea/
Or you can attend the meeting in person at Tiny Tots in Campbell, CA.

We will be voting to approve a new Board of Directors and announcing new meeting structures for some of our locations.

The voting link will be provided through email and on the Facebook Page after the LIVE meeting. Voting will be open from the meeting, until 12:00 Midnight on August 16th.

Meeting Notice 9/3/18 8pm

We are excited to announce that Babywearing International of the Bay Area is becoming Bay Area Babywearing, Inc!

We are calling a special membership meeting on Monday, September 3rd at 8:00 pm for the purpose of amending our Articles of Incorporation, which we are required to do because of the dissolution of Babywearing International, Inc.

This meeting is for the purpose of approving the Second Amended and Restated Articles of Incorporation of Babywearing International of the Bay Area, Inc. as proposed by the Board. The purpose of this amendment is to change the name of the organization to Bay Area Babywearing, Inc. and reflect the termination of our affiliation with Babywearing International, Inc.

IN ORDER TO APPROVE THE ARTICLES, THE VOTE OF MEMBERS ATTENDING MUST BE UNANIMOUS. IF THERE ARE ANY MEMBERS DISSENTING WE MUST START THE WHOLE PROCESS OVER AGAIN.

If you have any comments or concerns about this change, please contact one of the Board Members BEFORE the Live Meeting on September the 3rd to allow us time to address the concern before the meeting. Thank you!

Last Oakland meeting Reminder!

Last Oakland meeting Reminder!

The Oakland June meeting is Monday, 6/4, 6-8pm at Then Comes Baby will be the last Oakland meeting.

BWIBA is run completely by volunteers! I want to take a moment to appreciate all of the volunteers who worked alongside me to support the Oakland meeting over the last 2+ years. Thank you to current and past volunteers: Anna Margush, Donna Wirth, Jody Slendebroek, Shoshana Friedman-Hawk, Caitlin Hicks Pries, Sonia Sinton, Lanz L, Angela Berry-Phillip, and Anna Danielson. Whether it was teaching caregivers, signing in attendees, library maintenance, or paperwork your every effort was appreciated! You will continue to see quite a few of these friendly faces at the Berkeley meeting which is the 3rd Saturday of every month from 11am-1pm.

If you are interested in volunteering to bring Oakland back or at any other meeting location please contact Serena Leung Weingrod, our volunteer coordinator. We need volunteers in many different capacities and have some at home opportunities as well.

I’ve had many different roles over the years with BWIBA and am forever grateful to my BWIBA community who helped me grow into a confident caregiver with two free hands.

Meeting Changes

Attention Bay Area Babywearers,

As you know we are a non profit organization that is fueled by volunteer power. Due to unforeseen circumstances we unfortunately have to close Walnut Creek and Marin meetings. March will be the last meetings for both locations. WC will be Monday 3/12 330-530 and Marin will be Monday 3/19 11-1. Please join me in thanking the volunteers who made these meetings possible: Anneke, Laura, Kayo, Martha, Anna M, and Nathan. We appreciate you all! Wishing you the best on your next endeavors.

We’d like to thank Cari Slings for the wrap we won in a learning library giveaway on their Facebook page!

It is a size 7 Alchemy Homunculus made from cotton and Eco2 recycled cotton. It is a thicker wrap with a little bounce and a good amount of texture/grip, making it an excellent toddler or preschooler wrap. It is on its way to the Berkeley meeting learning library. Thank you to VBE Heather for helping us break it in!

We’d like to thank Mission Critical for their very generous donation of a carrier for each of our 11 meeting locations around the Bay Area!  (Yes, all 11 meetings!)

These carriers support front carries facing in and out.  They are designed for broad-shouldered people and the belt connecting the front and back halves of the vest fits up to 64″. Mission Critical makes a daypack that snaps onto the back of the carrier. We will have one of the daypacks available for checkout with the carrier in the Campbell library.

International Babywearing Week 2017 is coming!

International Babywearing week is a worldwide babywearing awareness campaign that has been celebrated yearly since 2008! This year, the theme is “Threaded Together” and we will be celebrating from October 2nd through October 8th, 2017. This year we are going to again, host events and activities throughout the Bay Area – we have three of our regularly scheduled meetings, a fun sew along and a potluck planned. We have some fun giveaways and games so don’t miss out. Also this year will be offering more online content in our facebook group. We know that this time of year is busy – especially for growing families and we hope by providing more content online, that everyone will be able to participate with us in some way during this week.
